"First thing" this morning, we packed up our bags and made the switchbacking climbs down and up the cliffs of Eze for the last time.
On our way to Marseille we stopped in Cannes for an afternoon of strolling, food and wine. After four hours in the busier-than-we-expected city on the opposite side of the L'Esterel that we visited yesterday, we travelled further southwest to Marseille, our home for the next four nights.
When we originally booked our stay in Marseille the hosts told us they would not be able to offer their typical "bnb" services since they were travelling, but would instead offer us their entire home at no extra charge (like 130/night). It being no difference to us we accepted, only to find out that we have a giant 5-story home, in a gated community, with ocean views, stocked with art and artifacts, to ourselves. We did have the chance to walk some of the coast at sunset and get dinner (much more reasonably priced than Cote d'Azur), but look forward to seeing more of the city tomorrow.
