Today we did no work to earn our keep and instead took a day trip to Wellington. Our first stop after having lunch was the Te Papa, the museum of New Zealand's history. After four hours we can confirm that their history is boring as hell. There was one strike where workers refused overtime, American troops showed up during WWII to protect NZ and steal their girls, there are no mammals, one big squid, four Polish immigrants, bad 3D movies, fashion was popular for ten years in the 50's, children's feet are made of lead and nobody cares, they think New Zealand is a continent (Zealandia), and somebody once built a motorcycle here. We also found a quote of NZ first impressions that matched ours exactly, down to the day of the week and street which we attached as a picture.
After learning all this information we cancelled our plans to attend the biggest rugby match of the year due to wicked winds and opted instead to spend the night at a local bar. For those who care the Hurricanes beat the Chiefs with four tries and are nkw in contention for the Super 15 Playoffs (we don't really care either but it was a dramatic, last minute win). We are now killing some time with Heineken's before we catch the last train to Featherston / Martinborough and preparing for our last day of 'work.'
