Jingi Wallah from Mt. Warning

Today we began our Southern migration back towards Sydney and had little hope beyond just wanted a good hike in the region separating New South Wales and Queensland. We stopped at an information center where our aid both managed to make fun of us, ignore our request and give bad advice at once. He pointed out that the summit of Mt. Warning is spectacular and then advised it was too late to climb. Since we both hope for the best and plan for the best we went for it.

The climb is through a National Park and is rainforest that is about 50 million years old and even predates the existence of Australia. Right before the summit there is about a 150 meters ascent that is nearly vertical and would have been impossible without the presence of chains to hang on. Our pictures probably don't fully capture the verticality of the summit so here is a proper picture. Once at the top the view was more than worth it, extending from Brisbane to Byron Bay which is about 2.5 hours of driving.

For now we are bunkered down in Pottsville and will more a bit further south tomorrow.

Oh yea...jingi wallah is aboriginal for welcome to

Cheers.
