Today we continued the domestic theme going with the two kids to visit a gorge and walk over it on a swing bridge and then hike down to the river below. Our daycaring must have been first rate (ahhh British English is infiltrating our minds after three weeks) because we were sent to one of our hosts friends home for an hour and a half hike. And who can offer an hour and a half hike on their property? The answer would be Pip and Mark. They have a property in town with over 700 acres of rolling hills that overlook four towns and has vistas straight through to the mountains of the south island, it is really impressive.
On our return trip from the summit Brian managed to miss the hissing and crackling of the electric fence, grabbed it and electocuted himself. Fortunately he was well grounded in water and mud!
After laughing about this over wine, beer and cheese our hosts informed us that they had a second home in Bordeaux (oh the company we keep) and would have us at guests if we ever wanted to go. Of course we took the invite and left before we did anything to make them change their minds!
