(Bologna, Italy) A Day in Bologna

Our excurion to Parma yesterday delayed our exploration of this city which we will undertake with the conscious decision to not visit any landmarks or historic sites. The result was a complete nine hour foot survey with semi-frequent espresso, pizza, and wine stops throughout that was witnessed and discussed by no less than 50 old women holding fort over the streets from their windows.

While the city may lack much of what Germany has in abundance: precision (we had a hard time finding a working ATM), reliability (the bus comes when it will), rule enforcement (we are convinced there are no traffic laws), the food, wine, hospitality and energy more than make up for it.

For the Mom's and Dad's out there we have also included a picture of our lodging and view from the window - it is really nice with great hosts.

Go figure, a church in Italy is a prominent architectural landmark.

Surrounded by churches, they are just going to be in a lot of pictures for the next few two weeks.

A typical side street, bustling with motorcycles and cafe patrons.

A view from our room.

Brian enjoying espresso number 3 of the day.

A view of our room.

A corrider lined with shops we could not ever imagine affording.

Amanda also enjoying an espresso, if not the picture.
