(Florence, Italy) Saluti da Firenze

Another semi-travel day from Bologna to Florence only today we opted for the bus over train as we: 1) had time; 2) appreciated the cost savings.

From this bus we arrived around 2:00 pm and have essentially dedicated our day to the pursuit of food. Since we are both picky that allowed us to cover a fair amount of the city which, by the way, is just crawling with Americans and Brits who don't know what Italian food should cost and pay ridiculous prices. In an effort to not be a part of the Hard Rock t-shirt brigade we are currently studying our Italian phrasebook and hope to be ready for action by the morning.

With that we will call it a night and will surely have more historical insights tomorrow.
Ciao and buonasera.

Florence Travel Information:

 - Bus: Eurobus from Bologna to Florence.  The total cost was about 45 Euro, much cheaper, albeit slower, than the train.
 - Lodging: AirBnB.  Just across the river from the center of the city, private room, private bathroom for about $65.
 - Transportation: It's Florence, just walk! Not sure what all the site-seeing buses are abuot it's not that big.

A view of the Duomo, though we were really just looking for a meal.

Bridge across the ARNO at sunset.  We still haven't found food!

Old defensive walls now intergrated into the city road system.

One of the many allies packed with restaurants and cafes.

Arno River, from a different angle.
